Brazil became visa-free for Indonesians (30 days) on 3 July 2025 on a reciprocity basis, and in 2026 two big electronic routes opened: South Africa added Indonesia to its new eTA (from February 2026, alongside China, India and Mexico) and Canada extended eTA eligibility from 26 May 2026 — though the Canadian eTA only helps travelers who have held a Canadian visa in the last 10 years or hold a valid US visa. On the downside, Vietnam reduced the visa-free stay for Indonesians from 30 to 14 days effective 15 July 2026, the UAE’s new visa-on-arrival (from 25 June 2026) is conditional on holding a foreign residence permit, and Thailand cut its 60-day exemption to 30 days (Cabinet decision 19 May 2026). Europe’s EES biometric checks have been rolling out since 12 October 2025 and paid ETIAS is expected late 2026, but neither changes the fact that Indonesians still need a Schengen visa.
